This is Still the Place: Utah's 1897 Pioneer Jubilee

Drawn by eight horses, Float #9 in the Pageant of Progress was “First House in Utah,” designed by J. S. Anderson. “Work on this house was commenced within a few days after the arrival of the Pioneers. It was for many years the home of its builder, Mr. Albert Carrington, and still stands at the corner of West Temple and First North Streets in Salt Lake City.” Smoke curled from the adobe chimney, a dinner bell rang, and a clothes line hung with washing as this cabin on a hill rolled down the parade route.
